Band Council President, Andy Moon is the 2002 John Philip Sousa Band Award winner. The top band award was presented to Andy at the band banquet.

Mills Elementary Teacher of the Year for 2001-2002 is Dana Owens, third grade teacher at
Mills for 8 years, and lifelong Owasso Ram. Currently working on a master's degree in library
media, she has a bachelor of science degree in early childhood education from Northeastern
State University in Tahlequah. Trained in Great Expectation, Literacy First, and has Lead
Teacher training through the Eighth Floor Technology Consortium. Dana and husband Steve have a
2 year old daughter, Lauren, and two schnauzers: Sissy and Sasha.
Shelly Parham-Rogers would like to get it touch with any graduating member of the class of 1986.
03/04/02 ~ 1964 OHS Class Ring Found
An Owasso Class of '64 class ring has been found. It has a dark red jewel in the ring and is
golden in color. It looks to be a men's ring, but could be a womans. Please email me with
any information about the initials and we will see to it the ring is returned to the rightful

Finley, Eric Hamm, Bonnie Hickson, Julie Hollandsworth, Tess Igarta, Laura Kennard, Angela Lay,
Lara Lynch, Denae McCombs, Laura McCoy, Zach McGill, Heather Motto, Amey Moyer, Lyndsey Nelson,
Ashley Olds, Quinita Patlan, Stephanie Pence, Justin Potts, Jayla Reynolds, Seth Rice, Rebecca
Robbins, Jessica Smith, Lindsay Snider, Nicole Thomsa, Brian Webster, Katy White, and Jessica
Worley. Early graduates will receive their diplomas with the rest of their class in May.

02/18/02 ~ Congratulations Miss Owasso 2002, Kelley Scott
Kelley Scott, crowned Miss Owasso 2002, is the 21 year old daughter of Steven and Rita Scott of
Owasso and attends Oklahoma City University. Her platform issue for the pageant was "KIX, Kids
into Exercise," and for the talent area, she sang "If You Want Me To." She received a $1,500 scholarship, a crown, a dozen roses from Nellie's Flowers, a photo session
at Loy's Photography, including a 20x24 portrait, one year of hair care services from Uptown
Hair and Nails, a $100 gift certificate from Millinda's Merle Norman Studio, a $250 wardrobe
gift certificate to Southern Charm, a one year membership at Owasso Fitness Zone, and one year
of dry cleaning from Yale Cleaners. Scott previously held the Miss Owasso title for 1999 and hopes to be successful in her pursuit of the Miss Oklahoma title.
First runner-up, Kara Robertson is the 17 year old daughter of Mark and Laurie
Robertson and a senior at Owasso High School. Her platform issue was the emotional effect
of craniofacial birth defects. Her talent was a solo from "The Impossible Dream." She
received a $1000 scholarship and a bouquet. Miss Robertson also received a $1000 scholarship
and was named Talent Competition Winner.
Second runner-up was Owasso High School student, Leslie Rutledge. The 18 year old daughter of Bob and Cathy Rutledge, her platform
issue was America's Promise, and her talent was a jazz/tap dance to "Don't Rain on My Parade."
She received a $500 scholarship and a bouquet.
Third runner-up for Miss Owasso 2002 was Mary Roberson. She is the 20 year old daughter of Mike
and Shirley Roberson of Owasso, and she attends Northeastern State University. Her platform was
blood and organ donation. She performed a solo from "The Glory" for the talent competition,
and she received a $250 scholarship.
Fourth runner-up, 19 year old Emily Hulsey is the daughter of Steve and Pattie Hulsey
of Owasso and attends Northeastern State University. This was Hulsey's second year to
participate in the Miss Owasso competition. Her platform issue was music education, and she
performed a vocal solo from "Something's Coming" for her talent.
Nonfinalists received a $50 scholarship and were eligible for titles voted on by the audience
and fellow competitors. Shanna Smethers received the title and plaque of Miss Congeniality,
and Amanda Hurd received the Crowd Pleaser Award for her comedic monologue.
