11/23/01 ~ OHS Honors Veterans

OHS Students, and many others from the community, gathered for the Veterans assembly last Tuesday. The Pride of Owasso performed along with the men's choir. The assembly was a reminder of how Owasso goes into a time of hurt, and comes through with grace.

11/22/01 ~ Congrats to OHS All-State Vocalists

All-State is a special vocal choir in which elite High School vocalists from all over Oklahoma audition. 4 OHS students have been selected for the outstanding honor:
Seniors Monica Bunds, Rachel Cline, and Sharon Sharp; and Junior Chris DiPesa. This is the second year in a row Chris has been chosen for All-State. He hopes to be the first student from Owasso to make All-State 3 years in a row. Best wishes and Congratulations to all!

11/15/01 ~ ATL Sandra Downs, Class of 1980 or Karen Downs

Hiya! Even though I saw most of my graduating class at our 20th year reunion, I was saddened tae find that Sandra Downs wasnt there! I enjoyed seeing everyone, however, I was really hoping tae see Sandra. I keep checking back at Snowhawk's page, but her name isnt listed. I know her name is posted on the "Classmates.com" site, however, they dinnae take our Visa card, as it's in pounds instead of dollars. Go figure, eh? Does anyone know her email address, her snail mail address, or anything else about her? Her sister graduated a year behind us, Karen Downs. If anyone has any information on either of them, I'd be more than appreciative of it. 08/09/01 ~ Meet the Rams on August 21

The first Meet the Rams night will kick off the football season on Tuesday, Aug. 21st at Owasso Stadium. 8th through varsity Ram players and coaches will be introduced, the Cheer and Pom Squads will perform, and the Pride of Owasso Band will play. The band will open with the school song at 6pm. Meal deals will begin selling at 5:30 featuring hamburgers, hot dogs, sno-cones, popcorn, and drinks. Professional party pictures will be sold for parents to purchase pictures with their players. Admission cost $2/adults, $1/kids (6-under free). All proceeds to benefit the Owasso Cheer and Pom Squads.

06/20/01 ~ Message from Shane Dill, Class of 1996

Hello, my name is Shane Dill. I graduated from Owasso High School in 1996. I joined the Navy in April of 1997. I am currently stationed in VA. Beach, VA. I am an E-5 Aviation Hydraulics Mechcanic. My beautiful wife(Kimberly) and I were married in December of 1999. We have a handsom little boy(Tristyn Shane) that was born on Jan. 26, 2000. We visit Oklahoma at least twice a year, and we will be home in September so that I can do Harp Duty at the recruiting office in Tulsa. I have been to a few places since I have been in the Navy. I just returned in March form a 6 month deployment to Bahrain, in the Middle East. I am up for orders in April of 2002, and my wife and I are trying to see if I can get orders to Tinker Airforce Base in Oklahoma City, so we can be closer to family. HI, just a note to let you and the other Owasso folks know. I am home from touring overseas with the USO. My last tour of Bosnia, Hungary, Kosovo, and some others was great. Our armed services are truly the finest!! I am currently on tour in the US with an up and coming, HIGH energy country duo called (the Lamun Brothers) after almost 3 years touring overseas it is good to be working in the good ole U S of A again !!!! We have done a few shows in the Tulsa area this year and have many more on this tour in the home area soon. 03/15/01 ~ Congrats to Glen Jackson and Josef Dalaeli - Academic All-State for 2001

The Owasso High Class of 2001 alumni, Glen Jackson and Josef Dalaeli were selected from 632 nominations for Academic All-State scholars. The Oklahoma Foundation on Excellence began the program in 1987, and select the scholars who have met one of the criteria: ACT score of at least 30, SAT score of at least 1350, National Merit Semi-Finalist, National Achievement Semi-Finalist, or National Hispanic Scholar Awards Semi-Finalist. This year's All-State Scholars scored an average of 32.6 on ACT (3 scored a perfect 36), and average score on the SAT of 1445 (4 scored a perfect 1600). Nominations are made by a principal or superintendent, and must include 2 letters of recommendation.

It's Mike Reed (class of 94). I'm no longer on the Cushing, but am still in Japan. I just started a 3 year duty working at the base Brig (prison). I'll have 9 years here when I leave in 2004. Hopefully I'll be getting out of the Navy then and following a music career. I've completed my second self produced CD and some of them are circulating in Owasso and here. I'm trying to get picked up and get paid for it. If anybody knows somebody who knows somebody let me know. I don't know anybody.

02/13/2001 ~ Wall of Rams Dedication

The "Wall of Rams," placed in the entryway of the Performing Arts Center, was dedicated in honor of the memory of Janis Campbell, cheerleader sponsor of many years, who passed away last year (5/1/2000). The dedication ceremony was during halftime of the basketball game with Union, Thursday, February 15. The "Wall" is a fund-raising effort by the cheerleaders, and features engraved bricks purchased by graduates, teams, individuals, and as memorials.

02/13/2001 ~ Congratulations to KAYLA ROWAN, crowned as our 2001 Wrestling Homecoming Queen!

Kayla is invloved in cheerleading, VICA, Student Council, Spirit Club, Student Mentoring Club, and is the Senior Class President. She plans to attend TCC, then OSU and major in international buisness. Wrestler Vince Jaramillo was her escort. Her parents are Marty and Terri Rowan.
